I bought a Trident Stump for $20

Maybe 3 years back I picked up a trident stump. Now I'm trying to find all my old pictures but that means digging into old machines and cards that I no longer use. I'll get to it. I will.

Suffice it to say it was just a stump. I've grown some branches, thread grafted one branch and almost lost it to heat this past summer. Having relocated it, it's doing well again and this is its debut online.
Here we can see the tree getting a bit too much sun and some of the leaves are damaged. I moved it to a shadier spot in the yard where it'd get more water... my back porch.

I had to chop off the top eventually. Too much dead tissue. It's a lot shorter now.

Here's the earliest picture I have of the thread graft. First successful one.

In this shot you can see, years later, that the emerging branch is more than double the size of where it goes in.
I slowly weakened the input branch so it would cease feeding the graft. It worked. It's dead in this image.

Chops.

And now I've a bean pole with an extra branch. Next year I'm going to have to ground layer this tree and start the hard part of making it interesting.
